ROLEX SUBMARINER 1680
MK2 DIAL
On top of being one of the most, if not the most, recognizable watches there is, the Rolex Submariner has appeared in many forms since its inception. The Rolex 1680 may very well be what most would consider to be the archetype of the reference’s design, being the first Submariner fitted with a date complication, a feature that has since become a mainstay throughout nearly all of the Submariner references that followed.
This example presents itself in exceptional vintage condition. The watch displays a unique feature, in that the printing for the “O” in Rolex has bled through a bit when it was produced, displaying a small interruption in the letter. It is hardly noticeable if one is not inspecting it carefully. Aside from this, the dial has aged wonderfully. The handset has been colour-matched to be in line with the rich colour the dial markers have taken on over the years. The case is also in great condition, with common hairline scratches and insignificant nicks throughout. The bracelet is also in very good condition exhibiting minor stretch and hairline scratches only.
The movement was serviced and a complete overhaul performed in June 2021, as indicated on the service papers. The work was done by the renowned True Patina LLC.
